The Doula behind Sacred Haven

My name is Caitlin Leilani Tallungan, I am honored you are here.

Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of walking alongside people in some of life’s most vulnerable and profound moments in the healthcare field. I have witnessed the fragility and powerful resilience of the human spirit, and my goal is to bring clarity, comfort, and grounded knowledge to clients and their support systems navigating end-of-life.

Becoming a doula in this work has been a beautiful process that has evolved over the years. It has now become my life calling. My journey into death care began with my aunt, whom I knew as Grandma Anita. She passed away from small-cell lung cancer in 2015 while I was still in nursing school. Next to my mother, she has been the most influential woman in my life. She possessed a beautiful and generous soul, and everyone who knew her was better for it. Sitting vigil at her bedside, accompanied by her four children, many grandchildren, and siblings, was an immense privilege. I didn’t realize then that this time was the beginning of my journey into the world of death care, the path of becoming a “practitioner of souls,” as it were. I do this work in her loving memory.

I believe that dying, like birth, is not a medical event but a sacred passage. My role is to hold space for presence, dignity, and meaning as you and your circle approach the greatest threshold of life.

I have received training from the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA), Going With Grace, and Doulagivers. In addition to these partnerships, I am a proud member of the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA) and hold a Hospice/Palliative Care Nurse certification from the HPCC.

Whether through advanced planning, ritual exploration, vigil sitting, legacy projects, or holding heavy moments with a calm presence, I offer care that honors the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

Each individual’s journey is unique, and I feel deeply honored to walk beside you.
